A bit controversial, but my family just may hit this during our vacation this summer. While AiG is quite passionate about the details (potentially at the offense of others), I do love the Spirit they are following. I'd love to see in person their spin on creationism.

It's a sad thing when people with "superior intellect" won't allow people to think for themselves.
are you familiar with AiG or do you assume they have a "spin" on creationism? what prompted the use of the word "spin"? do you believe in the literal interpretation of the first several chapters in Genesis? If not then what is your view of those chapters?
I am familiar with AiG, especially since covering an article on them for the local newspaper. They came to town and did a great job on the concept of a young earth and the validity of their claims. One of the things I really like about their approach is that they don't ask schools to teach creationism but rather to teach "all of the scientific evidence," confident that this will lead people to realize the creation story.
What prompted the use of the word "spin" is that none of us were present at creation... right? So whatever view we might take it is ultimately just that - a spin of faith based on the best evidence in front of us.
Some very smart Christians believe in the literal 24/7 days of creation, while some other smart ones hold to the elongated view. Both agree that God did it all, though, and since the only humans who were a part of it have since returned back to the dust, I love it that we get to talk about stuff like this... and that's my view.

I take the straightforward approach and just take the Bible at face value...I think He told us how He did it...
I think that creation is young from a chronological understanding of time...but just like God created Adam with the appearance of age (I doubt he was an embryo) I also think that the rest of creation had the appearance of age and maturity instantaneously ...like oak trees that were 5 minutes old looked 50 years old...so I don't have a problem with science showing the universe to be billions of years old...because I think it was created with maturity built in and so that is obviously what it would appear to be...
