How one dresses for a worship service is a big deal to some. I tend to think it not as big of a deal to God, if indeed our very lives are to be lives of worship, although if it is a way for someone to show greater honor for the Lord then I say...dress up!
Agreed... and yet: When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, "How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, disrobing in the sight of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!"
David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the LORD's people Israel--I will celebrate before the LORD. I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor." (2 Samuel 6:20-22)
I don't dress my best for church. I do it gladly, though I don't encourage people to have the same attitude I do about it. My reasoning for dressing the way I do for church may not be the same for others. If you wish to dress up or not is up to you. As long as it is appropriate, ie. are you showing too much skin. I dress in jeans in shirts because when I was younger I had to dress up for church. In fact, I had to go to church. I didn't have a choice in the matter. Now that I do have a choice, I choose to dress this way. Plus, I feel I personally am being disengenous to God when I am wearing a suit or dressy clothes. It isn't me. It is a side of me that I put forward for professional reasons to impress people. I want to be me before God.
I think dressing up is over-rated! I had a DS tell me once that, "the way a man dresses reflects his spirituality." I about vomited & then thought, "Gee... Al Capone must have been a very spiritual man!"

I wrote recently on this Here.
I'll check it out, bro!
I find it's very important to dress for worship. I mean, if one refused to dress for worship, that could be very distracting.

Makes for a fun song too!
I say all of those pictures showed fine ways to dress in church. Though bow ties always make me laugh for some reason.
For me it really doesn't matter what you wear to church. Thanks for the heads up on the news story.

Good point, Tony. You first...
One small step for man at a time.
