birthday begins

Today is my birthday.

Our Myles family tradition dictates that everyone takes the day off of work and we hang out together.

Um... that's been my whole summer.

Anyway... I'm a night owl which means I'm working on my message for Sunday right now. Since part of it deals with the Incarnation, I've done some research on Jesus' birth.

This site had something rather revealing:

"Ancient records say that December 25 is the date of conception. The perfect period of human gestation is 280 days. That would make September 29 the date of birth of the Son of God, about the time of the feast of Tabernacle."
I actually said, "Holy crap!" I've always known that December 25 was a traditional date, but I never knew that it had any significance beyond that. And then the fact that Jesus' birthday may have been September 29th.

The weird thing is that I just found that out shortly after midnight rolled around and my birthday kicked in.

My birthday... "Jesus' birthday?"

Hmm... maybe, maybe not. But kind of cool that I found this tidbit on my actual birthday.

I'll write more later...

Happy Birthday... but I thought the Dec. 25th date was just an old pagan holiday that they made into Jesus' birthday to get rid of the pagan tradition on that day.
